Nursery and preschool comments should describe visible development without comparing children or assigning fixed labels. Use short, warm sentences about what the child does independently, what is emerging, and what support helps.

General nursery report card comments

A balanced preschool comment

[Student] enjoys story time and confidently joins familiar repeated phrases. They are beginning to retell events in order using picture prompts. Continued conversation about the beginning, middle, and end of everyday experiences will support this skill.
